Video | AMD CEO Lisa Su: AI Chip Market to Reach $1.4 Trillion by 2030

On July 23, AMD CEO Lisa Su stated at the Advancing AI 2026 Conference that as the industry accelerates towards AGI, the growth of the AI chip market has far exceeded previous expectations.

AMD had previously predicted that by 2028, the AI chip market would reach $500 billion. However, it now appears that this figure is still too conservative. Lisa Su projects that by 2030, the global AI chip market will grow to around $1.4 trillion, approaching the size of today's entire semiconductor market.

In her view, better models will lead to more usage, which will in turn drive continued growth in computational power demand. Although future AI chips will take on various forms, as algorithms and workloads are still rapidly evolving, GPUs with higher programmability are expected to still dominate the majority of the market share.
