The first model has just been released, and the 4th co-founder of Thinking Machines has resigned.

According to Dynamic Beating's monitoring, another co-founder has left the Thinking Machines Lab founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati. Sharon Wong announced her resignation, citing frequent illness over the past 7 months, with sustained pressure and workload exceeding her physical endurance.

During the company's sprint to launch its first open-weight model, Inkling, she took a month-long sick leave. She had considered reducing her responsibilities but could not accept only dedicating partial effort. She now hopes to find a research position with clearer responsibilities and a more stable pace, while still continuing AI research.

This is the fourth co-founder to leave Thinking Machines since its inception. Andrew Tulloch had previously joined Meta, Barret Zoph and Luke Metz returned to OpenAI. The company had just released its first model, Inkling, about two weeks ago.
