SoftBank is planning to issue ¥9 billion in bonds to support its AI investment.
July 29th, SoftBank Group announced on Wednesday that it will issue ¥90 billion (approximately $550 million) in bonds to institutional investors to expand its domestic and international financing channels, supporting its massive investments in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to the lead underwriter Daiwa Securities, this issuance includes ¥80 billion in three-year bonds and ¥10 billion in five-year bonds. The three-year bonds have a coupon rate of 3.270%, 165 basis points higher than Japanese government bonds, while the five-year bonds have a coupon rate of 3.886%, 190 basis points higher than Japanese government bonds, representing the highest rates paid by any Japanese domestic corporate issuer for similar tenor bonds.
