Telegram Founder Wanted by Russian Federal Security Service

July 29th, the Russian Federal Security Service today released a statement, seeking the arrest of the social media platform "Telegram" founder and CEO Pavel Durov, who is accused of assisting terrorist activities, facing criminal charges, and being placed on the global wanted list. The Russian Federal Security Service stated that the Ukrainian intelligence used the "Telegram" platform's channels and chat tools to plot sabotage within Russia, support terrorist activities, murder, and online fraud, resulting in significant casualties and billions of dollars in property damage, while the "Telegram" management did not remove the aforementioned channels and chat tools.

Under the Russian Criminal Code, Durov has been criminally charged and put on the global wanted list. It is currently unclear what kind of warrant Russia has issued and whether law enforcement agencies in other countries will cooperate. Durov's name is not currently in the public database of the International Criminal Police Organization. Ukraine has also not commented on the Russian Federal Security Service's statement.
