Apple's third-quarter revenue exceeded expectations, but the stock price fell over 4% in after-hours trading

Jul 31, 08:05

July 31st, Apple released its third-quarter earnings report after the U.S. stock market closed. The company's revenue of $109.4 billion exceeded expectations, representing a year-on-year growth of about 16%. iPhone and Mac sales were strong, but due to memory shortages, the fourth-quarter revenue guidance was below expectations. In addition, weaker-than-expected performance in China and services revenue contributed to a post-market price drop. This marked Tim Cook's last earnings report as CEO, with John Ternus set to take over in September.

However, this earnings report did not help its stock price rise. According to BIT (bit.com) market data, before the earnings report was released, Apple's stock price fell 1.4% during regular trading hours. After the report was published, the post-market decline further extended, with a drop of over 4%.
