August 2nd, according to Bloomberg, a U.S. Army soldier accused of using confidential information about a raid to make profitable bets on the prediction market platform Polymarket has asked the judge to dismiss the case, arguing that the related betting activity does not constitute a crime.

The prosecution stated that Special Forces soldier Gannon Ken Van Dyke was involved in the planning and execution of the raid to capture then-Venezuelan President Maduro. His lawyer, on the other hand, argued that the U.S. government's prosecution was an act of "overcriminalization," stating that the prosecution's case rested on untested legal theories.
