Alibaba provides 20,000 Hopper Hashpower, Moonshot Ranks 2nd in WebDev Lab's Experiment

According to PolyBeats' monitoring, on the prediction market Polymarket, the current probabilities in the market "Who will rank 2nd in the Code Arena WebDev AI Lab by the end of August?" are 62% for Moonshot and 17% for Alibaba.

Bloomberg reported on July 31, citing sources, that Moonshot has access to around 20,000 Nvidia Hopper generation chips through a compute agreement with Alibaba. This cluster provides significant compute power for the Kimi series models. Alibaba denied providing H200 chips to Moonshot and did not disclose the actual model involved in the agreement.

Kimi K3 has a total of 28 trillion parameters and is an openly weighted model released by Moonshot. The Code Arena WebDev leaderboard on August 1 showed that Kimi K3 Max scored 1676+12/-12 points, ranking 2nd on the model leaderboard and the lab leaderboard. This leaderboard has received 510,194 votes and involves 19 labs.

Alibaba unveiled Qwen3.8-Max on August 3. This model has 24 trillion parameters, activates 950 billion parameters per inference, and supports text, image, and video inputs. Qwen3.8-Max is currently ranked 4th on the Code Arena WebDev model leaderboard and 3rd on the lab leaderboard representing Alibaba, with its performance still labeled as Preliminary. Alibaba plans to release the model weights next week.
