Tencent, Sequoia Capital China, and Redpoint China Invest $2 Billion to Buy Back Manus Shares from Meta
According to Delve Dynamics, as reported by Caixin, Tencent, True Global Ventures, Sequoia China, and other previous major shareholders of Manus repurchased their shares from Meta for $2 billion. The $2 billion transaction price this time is close to the acquisition price announced by the U.S. social media and tech giant Meta in December 2025. Benchmark was its largest shareholder before the acquisition, but will not participate in this buyback of Manus. Tencent will acquire Benchmark's previous shares and become Manus's largest shareholder. Currently, Manus is operating as usual.
Yesterday, Manus announced that it will soon resume independent operations. To complete this transition and meet regulatory requirements in some jurisdictions, affected users must complete data backup by 7:59 a.m. Singapore time on August 23 and begin data recovery from 8:00 a.m. on August 25 to ensure normal use thereafter. Manus also mentioned that it is preparing a series of new features to further expand the capabilities of its general AI intelligence agent and expressed optimism about the company's prospects after resuming independent operations.
