August 12th. The Supreme Court of Korea ruled that Samsung Securities must pay 1.86 billion Korean won to the National Pension Service to compensate for losses incurred due to a dividend payment error in 2018.

In April 2018, Samsung Securities mistakenly issued 1000 shares instead of 1000 Korean won in cash dividends to each employee, leading to a 11.7% intraday stock price plunge caused by employees selling off the shares. The National Pension Service sought 29.9 billion Korean won in compensation, while a lower court ordered Samsung Securities to pay 1.86 billion Korean won. The Supreme Court of Korea upheld this ruling on Wednesday.
