UnitedHealth Group CEO Murder Suspect Pleads Guilty to Federal Charges

Aug 15, 00:36

August 15, Luigi Mancione formally pleaded guilty to the murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of Unified Health Insurance. A federal judge scheduled Luigi Mancione's sentencing for December 18. On that day, Luigi Mancione expressed in court that he pleaded guilty to his federal criminal case, admitting to shooting Thompson. This plea agreement will avoid this high-profile case going to federal trial.

Furthermore, the plea may allow Mancione to seek the dismissal of New York state murder charges and delay the upcoming state trial. Mancione currently faces both federal and state charges. The state trial for this case is set for September 8. If convicted of second-degree murder, Mancione could face a sentence of 25 years to life in prison. (CCTV)
