Stripe plans to expand its stablecoin card business globally, aiming to cover more than 100 countries by the end of the year.
October 5th, according to CoinDesk, global payment company Stripe is expanding its stablecoin card business to the global market, betting that digital dollars can become another payment method for consumers and businesses alongside traditional currencies. Stripe expects that by the end of this year, its stablecoin card program will cover more than 100 countries. Current customers include crypto exchange Kraken, fintech company Ramp, and payment app Morse.
Stripe stated that Henri Stern, CEO and co-founder of crypto wallet infrastructure company Privy, has taken on additional responsibilities to oversee Stripe's stablecoin and crypto operations. Privy was acquired by Stripe last year. Stern said that Stripe's strategy is to integrate stablecoins into its existing infrastructure, rather than building a separate independent crypto payment system.
