October 7th, crypto trading and market-making firm GSR has committed $100 million to jointly build on-chain credit business Hare with liquidity distribution platform Turtle, taking responsibility for creating and managing on-chain vaults. This multi-year funding commitment will primarily be provided in the form of credit lines, with GSR first injecting its own capital into the Hare product as initial liquidity before external investors enter.

Hare will first launch two products based on the lending protocol Aave: Hare USD Earn accepts major USD stablecoins through a single vault; Hare Gold Earn allows holders of Paxos tokenized gold products PAXG and PAXGy to earn yield, with Paxos Labs participating in the gold product collaboration. Vault managers are responsible for allocating assets deposited into smart contracts to lending markets and other strategies.

Hare CEO Connor Milner stated that the funds committed by GSR will be deployed directly, enabling issuers to obtain liquidity from day one, and allowing investors to see that GSR's own capital is in the same vault as their funds. Hare will focus on evaluating collateral, counterparties, and how relevant positions may perform under market stress.
