Amp integrates Claude subscription, with the underlying engine directly switched to Claude Code

Oct 10, 17:32

Beating AI News Flash: AI programming tool Amp has announced that it now supports Claude Pro/Max subscriptions, opening access to all users for free. When creating a new task, select "Claude Code" mode and link your Claude account. Model usage is directly counted toward the existing subscription quota, with no need to separately purchase credits from Amp.

The new mode runs the official Claude Code through the Claude Agent SDK while retaining Amp's cloud computer, task sharing, multiplayer collaboration, and Agent orchestration features. Only this mode can use the Claude subscription; Amp's original Medium, High, and Ultra modes are not included. Local operation is free, while the cloud computer still requires payment.

Anthropic previously restricted third-party tools from using Claude subscriptions, but paused the related policy changes in June this year, and in October confirmed that third-party applications can still use subscription quotas. However, official developer documentation still requires that third-party products providing Claude login or subscription quotas must obtain prior approval.
