QCP: Bitcoin Shows Resilience Against Decline, A Break Below the $80,000 to $88,000 Range Could Trigger Severe Repricing

Oct 19, 18:48

October 19: QCP Capital stated in its market report today that Bitcoin continued to oscillate within the $80,000 to $83,000 range last week, with strong support near $80,000, demonstrating some resilience amid ongoing pressure on tech stocks. AI financing risks are still brewing, with CoreWeave's five-year credit default swap (CDS) spreads widening to over 1,100 basis points, reflecting market concerns about debt-driven AI investments.

On the macro front, US CPI coming in above expectations briefly pushed the 2-year Treasury yield to 4.9% and the 10-year yield above 5.3%; subsequent defensive demand drove yields lower. Fed Chair nominee Warsh's remarks on Friday also reduced market expectations for an October rate hike to 15%, down from nearly 30% earlier in the week. The pullback in US Treasury yields provided support for Bitcoin's rebound.

QCP noted that capital is rotating from the semiconductor sector into healthcare and bank stocks, and the market may be reducing exposure to crowded AI trades, but there is currently no clear evidence of direct capital inflows into the crypto market. Meanwhile, Bitcoin's implied volatility remains below the past year's average, and market makers' positive Gamma positions may temporarily limit price fluctuations. However, this stability could weaken as options expire and positions roll over; if Bitcoin continues to break out of the $80,000 to $88,000 range, the market may see a more dramatic price repricing. This week's tech giant earnings reports will be an important point of observation.
