ZachXBT: An institution suspected of being hacked by North Korea-linked group SquidSquad for approximately $2.84 million

Oct 21, 13:58

October 21 - According to ZachXBT monitoring, an institution is suspected to have been hacked on October 8 on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) by the North Korea-linked group SquidSquad, resulting in the theft of approximately $2.84 million.

According to their tracking, the attackers deposited 1,111.2 ETH into Tornado Cash on October 20, then withdrew to three addresses, and subsequently cross-chained the funds from Ethereum to Tron via USDT, consolidating them into two addresses.

The aforementioned consolidation addresses are all financially linked to addresses previously attributed to North Korea. The funds then flowed through intermediary addresses to an OTC within minutes, which ZachXBT believes may be an attempt to circumvent potential fund freezing by Tether.
