Gamdom hit by ransomware group Whitearmor demanding $15 million in Bitcoin ransom
October 27 - Gamdom has not fully recovered from a multi-million dollar hot wallet theft incident and is now facing a new security crisis. The cyber extortion group Whitearmor claims to possess a database containing 15,420,003 customer accounts and is demanding a Bitcoin ransom worth $15 million to ensure the related data is not made public.
Whitearmor has published information about Gamdom on its extortion website, claiming access to 146 data fields for each account. The group also released a JSON sample file of approximately 437 KB, containing about 100 records, as evidence of its possession of the relevant data. It is alleged that the attackers exploited an old internal machine account to carry out the attack. The credentials for this account were never rotated or updated, so despite being created long ago, it still retained administrator privileges.
