Meta quietly releases new model? Mysterious Crouton Alpha listed on OpenRouter, free to use with million-token context.

Nov 4, 10:44

Beating AI News Flash: OpenRouter has listed another anonymous model, Crouton Alpha, currently free to use, supporting a 1 million token context, capable of reading text, images, audio, and video, and also supporting reasoning and tool calls, primarily targeting high-frequency tasks for AI Agents. OpenCode has also integrated it, free for a limited time of one week.

The community suspects it is a new model from Meta's Muse series. Some developers have found that Crouton Alpha's regional restrictions highly match those of Meta's model API, and the reasoning parameters are also very similar. Someone also tested it with a rare Japanese word and found that it made the same mistake as the Muse series, while 93 other models did not.

However, Crouton Alpha's token count does not match existing Muse models, so its true identity cannot yet be determined.
