MEXC platform sees over 10% of its traffic from Russia, making it the largest source region, with Iran ranking third.
November 7 — According to TradingBeats data, from January 1, 2026 to present, Russian traffic accounts for 10.55% of MEXC's total platform traffic, making it the platform's largest source of traffic; Iran accounts for 4.86%, ranking third.
This data also provides context for the U.S. Treasury Department's recent action against MEXC. The U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) issued an order yesterday prohibiting U.S. financial institutions from processing fund transfers involving MEXC.FinCEN alleges that the platform processed at least $16 billion in funds related to sanctions evasion, cybercrime, and other illicit activities between May 2021 and May 2026, including nearly $1.5 billion in transactions involving Russian sanctions evasion and approximately $1 billion in direct Iran-related transactions.
The U.S. action was implemented under Section 9714(a) of the Combating Russian Money Laundering Act, rather than traditional OFAC asset-freezing sanctions. The relevant prohibition will take effect 30 days after the order is published in the Federal Register.
