"AI stock god" Leopold's fund re-entered AI stocks in early September, only to face another sell-off with 7 holdings down 18.3% on average
On October 18, citing Coin Bureau, "AI stock god" Leopold Aschenbrenner's fund Situational Awareness redeployed into AI-related stocks after being forced to unwind positions in July this year, buying hundreds of millions of dollars in options in early September.
However, since September 8, six of the seven stocks it heavily bet on have fallen sharply: CoreWeave dropped 37.4%, SK Hynix 25.8%, SanDisk 23.8%, DRAM 22.9%, Bloom Energy 18.1%, and Intel 9.4%. Only AMD bucked the trend, rising 9.1%, leaving the seven stocks down 18.3% on average.
Situational Awareness's actual investment losses still depend on position size, option terms, and subsequent trading. Even with a long-term bullish view on AI development, options investments can still incur losses when market movements do not align with the expected timing.
