US CFTC Chair: Advancing a Voluntary Federal Registration Path for Crypto Exchanges

October 26 — Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Mike Selig said that, with the US Congress yet to act on relevant legislation, the CFTC is advancing a voluntary federal registration path for cryptocurrency exchanges, bringing them closer to US market regulatory standards. Selig said the crypto market should be bound by the same protection mechanisms as the US derivatives market.
