Baidu to Disclose World Model R&D Progress, Possibly Deployed First in Autonomous Driving

Oct 28, 17:19

October 28 — Baidu plans to disclose the R&D progress and results of its world model in the coming days, according to STAR Market Daily. A world model mainly models and predicts the physical environment. If applied to autonomous driving, the model could enhance prediction and decision-making capabilities in complex scenarios, providing support for the large-scale rollout of driverless vehicles. Baidu's Apollo Go has already covered 28 cities worldwide and accumulated a certain scale of real-world road data. Baidu has also built a presence in the embodied intelligence sector, having served more than 50 companies including the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, AgiBot, Galaxea and Unitree. The specific use of the model and its relationship with Apollo Go remain unclear, and Baidu declined to comment.
