Oct. 28: According to Reuters, two people familiar with the matter said ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) plans to begin small-scale mass production of HBM3E high-bandwidth memory within the next two months; current yields are only about 20% to 30%, versus about 70% for SK Hynix. CXMT has already sent samples to several domestic AI chip design companies. In testing, its performance is closer to SK Hynix's previous-generation HBM3. U.S. export controls have left Chinese AI chip companies short of high-end memory, and Huawei, Cambricon and others raised AI chip prices by 20% to 50% last month. CXMT's HBM3E is expected to cost more than comparable overseas products.
