1kx Report: Blockchain Industry Revenue Expected to Reach $100 Billion in 2026
October 29: Investment firm 1kx has released its annual blockchain revenue report, covering more than 2,600 protocols and over 100 public companies. It projects that blockchain industry revenue will reach $100 billion in 2026 (revised down 28% from earlier expectations due to price volatility). In contrast to the overall downward trend, the share of revenue from institutional adoption and broader economy applications is set to rise to 30% in 2026; revenue from the broader economy surpassed revenue at the blockchain infrastructure level for the first time in the third quarter.
Public companies now account for 16% of blockchain revenue, up from 7% in 2022; although market concentration is high, leadership among the various protocols continues to change hands. In addition, a record 283 protocols returned value to token holders in the third quarter through mechanisms such as token buybacks, burns, or fee sharing.
