Data: Suspected Polymarket Attacker Swaps ~$2.65M in Funds for POL
October 30: According to The Block and Decrypt, Arkham data shows that the address linked to the suspected Polymarket attacker (0x3F99…Ffc18) exchanged the USDC.e and USDC it obtained for POL, at one point holding about $2.65 million worth of POL. Polygonscan shows the address subsequently transferred out about 28.64 million POL in three transactions. Cybersecurity firm Hudson Rock said the address was hardcoded as a backup receiving address in a script containing wallet-draining code hosted by web performance monitoring service DebugBear. Earlier, Polymarket said a third-party service provider had been compromised and that affected users would be fully reimbursed. According to Decrypt, this is Polymarket's third security incident this year, following losses of about $700,000 in May and about $3 million in June.
