Binance Has Begun Backfilling Stolen Assets, Buying All Stolen Altcoins via OTC and Other Means to Complete POR
October 30 — Binance has begun backfilling the assets stolen in this security incident and has prepared more than $6.34 billion in company funds to cover all stolen losses. Corresponding tokens worth more than $5 billion are already in place, while the remainder is being purchased through market and over-the-counter (OTC) channels to ensure the tokens match those affected. Because some tokens have low liquidity and OTC settlement also takes time, the backfilling may take a considerable amount of time. These amounts exclude assets that have been frozen or protected. About $3 billion in assets has now been frozen, and Binance is working with partners and law enforcement to recover them. Binance will continue to use company resources to cover verified asset shortfalls, and user funds can be verified through proof of reserves.
