Nasdaq-Listed NXTT Weighs Selling $450 Million of Bitcoin, Citing Binance Hack and Quantum Risk
October 31: According to CoinDesk, Nasdaq-listed software company Next Technology Holding (NXTT) said its board has authorized the sale or collateralization of its roughly 5,833 bitcoin, worth about $449 million, in tranches, citing the Binance hack incident, exchange vulnerabilities and the potential threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin's cryptography. The company said none of its bitcoin is held at Binance. CEO Weihong Liu will decide the timing, price and size of transactions; the authorization permits exchange sales, privately negotiated transactions and bitcoin-collateralized financing, but there is no guarantee that any transactions will be completed. Most of the company's bitcoin came from a March 2025 transaction in which it acquired 5,000 BTC for shares, warrants and a cash prepayment, with total consideration of $158.1 million, or about $31,600 per coin.
Next Technology is headquartered in Japan. It closed at $5.30 on Friday, with a float market capitalization of about $7.8 million; at roughly $77,000 per bitcoin, its crypto holdings are worth more than 50 times its stock market capitalization.
