OpenAI: ChatGPT Search Query Volume Now at 20% of Google's
November 4 — According to The Verge, Adam Fry, OpenAI's head of consumer products, said that the volume of search queries processed by ChatGPT has reached 20% of Google's. OpenAI defines search as queries that users type in and that trigger a web search, rather than definitions of terms or simple operating instructions. Fry did not specify the source of the Google search volume data.
The report notes that while ChatGPT's search volume is only one-fifth of Google's and far from overtaking it, it is already clearly higher than Bing's. Microsoft CEO Nadella has said that after more than a decade of effort, Bing's market share is only about 3%. OpenAI has also proposed the concept of "intelligent UI," which involves creating visual and interactive interfaces within chatbot replies. In addition, OpenAI sees advertising as a potential revenue path, and Fry said ads have not yet had a negative impact on the product or its usage.
