SecuX Wallet App Still Experiencing Issues After Emergency Maintenance; CTO Schwartz Exposes Phishing Notification Pushed Within App

Oct 17, 21:56

On October 17, according to posts from SecuX's official X account and Ripple CTO David "JoelKatz" Schwartz, hardware wallet maker SecuX announced on October 16 that its app was undergoing a "major system upgrade and emergency maintenance," and at 3:34 PM that afternoon claimed services had "returned to normal operation." That same evening, Schwartz disclosed that the SecuX Android app pushed him a scam notification, and clicking the link led to a phishing page that induced users to enter their 12/24-word seed phrase. SecuX did not explain the cause of the incident, only reiterating that it would never ask for recovery phrases. As of October 17, multiple users reported still being unable to access their wallets, with services remaining unavailable.
