Oct 9, 14:48

On October 9, that according to an official announcement from JPYC Corporation, the company submitted information to Japan's Fair Trade Commission on September 14, 2026, explaining the competitive landscape for cashless payments amid the growing adoption of stablecoin payments.

JPYC facilitates payments through direct blockchain value transfers without charging merchants affiliate processing fees, and has already been implemented at over 150 physical and online retail locations. While some merchants have started offering discounts, free shipping, and other incentives to customers using JPYC payments, others remain hesitant due to concerns about potentially violating credit card merchant agreements.

In response, JPYC stated that merchants independently setting differentiated pricing constitutes a legitimate business decision. Furthermore, the Fair Trade Commission's 2022 report indicated that blanket prohibitions on merchants applying different conditions based on payment methods could potentially raise issues under the Antimonopoly Act under certain circumstances.
