Placeholder Partner: This currently looks more like an early bull market opportunity, suggesting systematic accumulation of token positions.
On October 19, Placeholder VC partner Chris Burniske stated on social media that for long-term investors, there is no need to constantly second-guess entry and exit points in the current environment. Instead, investors should systematically accumulate high-conviction assets and keep this strategy distinct from short-term trading logic. He suggested using "relative units" to gauge position sizes across different networks: with ETH at approximately 120 million total tokens and SOL at around 636 million, the latter is roughly 5.3 times larger. Thus, if you previously held 10 ETH, achieving a comparable network share would require holding roughly 53 SOL; aiming for double that network share would necessitate approximately 106 SOL.
He also provided an example: TIA has a total supply of approximately 1.16 billion, roughly 9.7 times that of ETH. Using 10 ETH as a reference point translates to about 97 TIA. To achieve a 10x or 100x increase in network holding proportion, one would need approximately 970 or 9,700 TIA, respectively. Given that ZEC's supply structure is similar to BTC's, its position sizing can be approached in much the same way.
On the current market, Burniske noted that BTC remains relatively resilient, down less than 10% from its peak, while many long-tail assets have already pulled back 20% to over 40%. He leans toward viewing that the market has already cleared out a substantial portion of speculative positioning, meaning the current environment resembles opportunities in early bull runs rather than a "bull trap." Nevertheless, he cautioned that cash reserves should still be maintained for lower prices, committing funds in stages according to the likelihood of each price level acting as a local bottom.
