CF Benchmarks Launches CFB Oracle, Bringing Pricing Benchmarks Used by BlackRock and CME to the Blockchain
On October 27, CoinDesk reported that CF Benchmarks, under Kraken's parent company Payward, has launched the on-chain oracle service CFB Oracle, providing benchmark price data for cryptocurrencies, stocks, bonds, commodities, and foreign exchange to blockchain applications. CF Benchmarks' indices serve as the pricing basis for BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF and CME Group crypto futures, and according to the company, assets under management for products utilizing its indices exceed $120 billion.
CFB Oracle currently supports Ethereum, HyperEVM, and Robinhood Chain, and plans to expand to other compatible networks. Data is digitally signed to verify price sources and ensure tamper-proof integrity, and all clients receive the same update frequency without additional charges for faster access. Developers can utilize this service to build on-chain index funds, tokenized portfolios, and derivatives without needing to develop their own pricing systems.
Payward plans to utilize CFB Oracle for its upcoming US-based perpetual contract product powered by Hyperliquid, which remains pending regulatory approval. This release positions CF Benchmarks in competition with other oracle providers like Chainlink and Pyth. CFB Oracle solely offers reference prices, does not issue funds, and does not execute trades.
