CZ: Four Data Breaches Exposed, Reminding Users to Guard Against Phishing Attacks and SIM Card Hijacking
Oct 28, 12:57
On October 28, CZ announced that four data breaches were reported today involving Coinbase third-party vendor Amplitude, South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb, and South Korean securities firms Mirae Asset and Daishin Securities. The Amplitude incident affected some Coinbase users’ contact information, but customer funds remained unaffected.
CZ cautioned that leaked names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, and transaction records could be exploited for phishing attacks, SIM swapping, and social engineering. He advised users to enable hardware security keys or Passkeys, avoid SMS-based two-factor authentication, and stay alert to fraudulent messages impersonating customer support.
