HTX DeepThink: Security incidents compounded by tightening expectations, BTC may sustain high volatility with a weak bias in the short term.

On October 30, Chloe, a columnist for HTX DeepThink and a researcher at HTX Research, noted that the cryptocurrency market this week was hit by a dual shock from tightening macroeconomic expectations and the Binance security incident, leading to a clear drop in short-term risk appetite. BTC briefly dipped below $77,000, triggering around $1.55 billion in full-market liquidations within 24 hours, including approximately $1.34 billion in long positions. Reports indicate that the security breach involves approximately $6.3 billion in assets. Institutions like Tether and Circle have assisted in freezing around $3 billion of the affected funds. While Binance has pledged to cover user losses, the ongoing resolution process will continue to influence the pace of market sentiment recovery.
In terms of capital flows, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of roughly $445 million over four consecutive trading days, though inflows decelerated to approximately $17.1 million on October 29. Institutional capital did not witness synchronized panic exits; however, ETF buying demand was also insufficient to fully offset the selling pressure stemming from the security incident and leveraged liquidations. Macroeconomically, the Federal Reserve held interest rates steady, while the performance of the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields continues to cap risk appetite. The upcoming U.S. midterm elections next week introduce political uncertainty that could further exacerbate market volatility.
Looking ahead to next week, BTC is anticipated to remain highly volatile within a weaker range, with $77,000 marking a critical short-term reference level. Should market sentiment stabilize gradually alongside sustained ETF net inflows, BTC could rebound to test the $80,000–$82,000 zone. Conversely, if panic endures and leveraged liquidations expand, prices may retest $75,000 or potentially dip lower. The pivot for short-term price action will hinge on whether the market can gradually digest the shock, preventing it from spiraling into a wider liquidity squeeze.
