Helius CEO: Anthropic is using cryptographic technology pioneered by Zcash.

Nov 3, 21:46

On November 3, Mert, CEO of Solana infrastructure company Helius, announced that Anthropic and Claude are utilizing the same cryptographic technology that was globally pioneered by Zcash.

According to Anthropic's official website, Anthropic open-sourced the research prototype FlashProve on November 2, leveraging zero-knowledge proofs (zkSNARK) to achieve "verifiable inference," meaning model providers can prove that a specific response was indeed generated by their stated model without revealing the model weights.

As introduced, the provider first releases an offline commitment to the model weights and then generates a proof for each request, which users can verify in seconds using a standard CPU. Taking the 400-billion-parameter Llama 4 Maverick as an example, a single H100 GPU can generate approximately 110 token proofs per second, with each 1024-token request proof averaging around 19 MB. The system was optimized with Claude's participation, and its security properties are formally described in Lean.

Anthropic stated that the current proof cost is approximately 70–95 times that of standard inference GPU time, and remains a research prototype that has not yet reached production readiness.
