TRM Labs Head of Policy: Governments Should Strike Back Against North Korean Hackers
On November 7, reports from Cointelegraph state that Ari Redbord, Head of Global Policy and Government Affairs at TRM Labs, said that in reference to the Binance theft incident, governments should conduct offensive cyber operations against North Korean hackers and dismantle the money laundering networks and banks used by hackers to cash out.
Redbord noted that despite the historically unprecedented scale of coordinated industry response to this incident, he anticipates such attacks will continue to rise. He believes that as long as the attacks remain profitable, North Korea will persist in executing them, likening this ongoing conflict to a "cyber war".
Previously, TRM Labs attributed the roughly $6.3 billion Binance theft to a North Korean hacker collective; the firm reported that stablecoin issuers together froze approximately $2.67 billion in tokens.
