Analyst: Fed's Wednesday Vote Could Show a Split, Hinting at September Meeting Outcome

Jul 27, 13:43

July 27th, LBBW Senior Fixed Income Analyst Elmar Voelker stated in a report that investors may focus on the potential number of dissenting votes in the Fed's Wednesday rate decision.

He said, "We believe there could be up to three dissenting votes, as early as April, there was a camp of this size voting against the Fed's then 'dovish' forward guidance."

Voelker said that if the Fed unanimously decides to take a wait-and-see monetary policy stance, this would be a surprise move bullish for the bond market, as it would shake the current widespread market expectation - that a rate hike in September is almost a certainty.
