According to Trustdata's Beating Monitor, Xu Xin, the founder of Today Capital, stated in the High Energy podcast that ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming spends 50% of his time on Seed.

At the time, she was advising another guest, Xinghai Picture CEO Gao Jiyang, to reduce daily management tasks and focus more on the direction of the models. Xu Xin said that TikTok is already a big business, yet Zhang Yiming still dedicates half of his time to Seed.

Seed is ByteDance's AI research team established in 2023, focusing on areas such as large language models, speech, vision, world models, and AI infrastructure. It has currently provided model capabilities for products like Bean Bag, Button, and DreamPlus.
