Claude's Conversation Shared, Wallet Private Key Exposed in Search Engine Index
According to Watchful Beating Monitoring, Claude's sharing feature has experienced a privacy vulnerability. After users generated public links, some conversations and Artifacts were indexed by Google and Bing, allowing strangers to find them through a simple search.
The exposed content includes cryptocurrency wallet information, access keys, resumes, company documents, as well as names and addresses among other personal data. Some users have even made legal advice, political inclinations, and private conversations public on their sharing pages.
These conversations were originally set to be "accessible to anyone with the link", but since the links were randomly generated, many users mistakenly believed that only the intended recipients could view them. Claude only blocked crawlers in the robots.txt file without adding a noindex tag to the pages, leaving them open to search engine indexing.
Currently, the relevant results have largely disappeared from Google, but Bing still shows around 600 of them. Anthropic has not yet clarified if the issue has been fully resolved. Users can go to "Settings> Privacy> Shared Conversations" to revoke the links.
