Security Alert: Coldcard Wallet Attack Incident Still Unfolding, More Small-Scale Attackers and Impersonators Emerge

August 2nd, Galaxy Research Director Alex Thorn stated that the attack incident involving the Coldcard wallet is still ongoing, with more small attackers and impersonators emerging. These attackers are targeting the remaining Coldcard mnemonic phrases.

Alex Thorn mentioned that they have identified one of the depositors involved in the attack and were able to trace the funds that were already withdrawn before being frozen on the Duel platform. The funds in question do not belong to the three major attack waves previously identified by Galaxy Research.

Previously reported, the Bitcoin hardware wallet Coldcard was attacked, and the stolen funds have now increased to 1367.05 BTC, equivalent to approximately $88.6 million, involving 4585 addresses. Galaxy Research Director Alex Thorn stated that the attack is still ongoing, and users who have not yet moved their funds should immediately transfer their assets from the addresses generated by Coldcard.
