The United States Finalizes Voluntary Review Framework for AI Model Deployment, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Others Engage in White House Discussions
According to Data Beat monitoring, the Trump administration has completed a cutting-edge AI model review framework and invited staff from OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic to the White House for discussions. AI companies can voluntarily submit their models to the government for testing before making them available to partners and the public.
This framework stems from an executive order signed by Trump on June 2. At that time, Anthropic did not publicly release the cutting-edge model Mythos due to concerns about cybersecurity risks. The executive order then required multiple departments to establish rules within 60 days to clarify which models would require focused review.
The government aims to collaborate with businesses to identify network attacks and national security risks before model deployment, but it has not yet established a mandatory approval system. The White House stated that the framework is complete but has not indicated whether it has officially taken effect.
Prior to this, the U.S. government had restricted the export of Anthropic's Fable model and requested OpenAI to gradually release GPT-5.6. The new framework will formalize these temporary interventions into a standardized process.
