US Media: White House Does Not Plan to Disclose Details of Advanced AI Model Evaluation Framework
August 5th, according to Axios, three sources familiar with the discussions revealed that the White House does not plan to publicly release its new framework for evaluating advanced artificial intelligence models. The details will only be shared with companies involved in the process. Companies not part of this process, policymakers, researchers, and U.S. allies will be unable to understand how the government plans to implement one of its key AI policies.
The White House held a staff-level meeting with industry representatives on Tuesday to discuss the recently completed framework. Companies that were not invited to the meeting still do not know the contents of this framework. It is currently unclear which "trusted partners" will have early access to advanced models under this framework, including whether foreign governments are eligible.
