CoreWeave surged over 7% as the company expanded into Indonesia, marking its first foray into the Asia-Pacific region with an AI data center.
August 5th, according to Reuters, AI cloud computing company CoreWeave announced its entry into Indonesia and will add 3 new data centers in the country, marking the company's first data center deployment in the Asia-Pacific region.
CoreWeave stated that the three data centers will add a total of 360 megawatts (MW) of contracted power capacity, and the company will be responsible for the ownership and operation of all facilities. The company noted that as Asian enterprises, AI-native companies, and governments see increased demand for localized AI computing power, the requirements for low-latency computing and data localization are driving the expansion of AI infrastructure into regional markets.
This Indonesia expansion plan also includes the establishment and training of a local operations team to support the operation of the new facilities and further drive the development of the local AI industry.
As of March 2026, CoreWeave has been operating 49 data centers globally. Due to the continued growth in demand for AI cloud infrastructure, the company has significantly increased its capital expenditure this year, with projected capital expenditures between $31 billion and $35 billion by 2026.
So far this year, CoreWeave has secured cloud computing partnerships with several large tech companies worth billions of dollars, including expanding its $21 billion cooperation agreement with Meta and entering into a multi-year cloud service agreement with Anthropic.
At the time of publication, CoreWeave closed up 7.16%, with a market value of $501 billion; it is currently down 1.24% post-market, trading at $90.76.
