The South Korean KOSPI index extended its intraday gain to 2%, with Samsung Electronics up 4.5%.
August 10th, according to Bitget's market data, the South Korean KOSPI index opened higher on Monday and extended its intraday gain to 2%. SK Hynix rose by 4.5%, and Samsung rose by 2.81%.
On the news front, Bank of America predicted that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will announce specific shareholder return plans as follows:
For Samsung Electronics, Bank of America expects it to return 50% of its free cash flow to shareholders, mainly including: distributing a special dividend of over 30 trillion Korean won in the third or fourth quarter; repurchasing shares worth over 40 trillion Korean won in the first half of 2027; distributing a year-end dividend of 30 trillion Korean won in April 2027. In addition, Samsung Electronics will also repurchase over 30 trillion Korean won worth of shares for employee compensation.
For SK Hynix, Bank of America similarly expects it to return 50% of its free cash flow to shareholders, but the share buyback ratio will be higher than the cash dividend, with an expected share repurchase amount of over 40 trillion Korean won and a cash dividend of over 20 trillion Korean won.
