TrendForce: China Accelerates Localization of Advanced AI Chips, Domestic Solutions to Occupy Nearly 90% Market Share by 2026

August 10th: A recent supply chain survey conducted by TrendForce, a market research firm in Taiwan, revealed that despite recent reports of China potentially easing the import restrictions on NVIDIA's H200 chip, opening up new possibilities for the chip to enter the Chinese market, there is still significant uncertainty regarding whether the H200 can successfully be shipped to China. Against the backdrop of restricted imports of high-end GPUs, the Chinese AI industry has not slowed down. Instead, it is accelerating the development of a domestically controlled AI supply chain.


TrendForce pointed out that the Chinese government is continuing to promote the application of domestically produced AI chips this year. Policy support is expected to prioritize domestic manufacturers with great growth potential and drive them to expand their share in the high-end AI server market in China. At the same time, the domestic AI industry chain is also accelerating in key areas such as advanced processes, advanced packaging, and thermal management, providing support for further expanding the application of domestically produced high-end AI chips.


As the domestic chip and supporting industry chain continue to improve, China's AI infrastructure is gradually reducing its reliance on overseas GPUs and forming a dual-track development model of "domestic GPUs + dedicated ASICs." TrendForce predicts that by 2026, domestic solutions will occupy nearly 90% of the market share in China's high-end AI chip market, indicating that the supply structure of China's high-end AI chip market is rapidly tilting towards local solutions.
