On the eve of the SpaceX acquisition, Cursor's Head of Design, Ryo Lu, resigns to move to Asia.

According to TrendForce's Monitoring, Cursor's Design Lead Ryo Lu has announced his resignation, preparing to head to Asia for his next adventure. He did not disclose the new company, only mentioning that after a decade in the San Francisco tech scene, he is looking to change his pace of life, experience more cultures and daily life, and continue to create things freely.

Ryo joined Cursor in early 2025 from Notion as the Design Lead, having previously been one of the founding designers at Notion and involved in product design at both Stripe and Asana.

His resignation timing is quite unique. SpaceX has signed an agreement to acquire Cursor's parent company Anysphere for $60 billion in full stock, with the transaction expected to be completed soon. Ryo did not mention any connection between his resignation and the acquisition, but there have been some speculations in the comments about an "exit to cash in."
