"The Big Short" Michael Burry Shorts Surging Asset, NBIS Soars Over 20%
August 12th - Today, the U.S. stock market continued to rise across the board as the CPI data came in favorably. According to the market data from BIT (bit.com), several "big short" positions targeted by Michael Burry saw significant gains, with NBIS leading the way with a 20.96% increase, reaching $233.62, Micron rising by 6.26%, NVIDIA by 2.93%, and SOXX by 2.89%.
Based on Michael Burry's trading update on Substack on August 6th, he established a direct short position in NBIS at around $211.77, with a relatively large scale. He chose to short the stock directly instead of buying put options because the implied volatility of put options at that time was over 100%, making their prices excessively high.
