Pump.fun opens pairing with any platform token; new token purchases will directly boost the original token's liquidity pool.
October 9: Pump.fun announced an update to its Custom Pairs feature. Previously, new coins could only be paired with tokenized stocks or whitelisted tokens; now they can be paired with any token issued on the platform that is still on the bonding curve or has graduated to PumpSwap. Coins that have graduated to Raydium and are not whitelisted are not yet supported, with exceptions for whitelisted projects like Fartcoin.
The official statement said that in the past, derivative markets for popular coins would divert attention and liquidity. Under the new mechanism, when buying a new coin paired with an existing coin, funds are first converted into the paired coin before purchasing the new coin, thereby bringing buy pressure and deeper liquidity to the original coin's pool. Currently, pairing depth is limited to one layer, and the pairing relationships of already-listed coins cannot be changed; the platform also adjusted the fee calculation for multi-hop swaps to avoid cascading fees.
