Kazakhstan court bans Coinbase and 5 other CEXs from operating without a license in the Astana International Financial Centre.

October 20: The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Court in Kazakhstan has issued injunctions against 6 CEXs including Coinbase, BingX, Bitcoin.com, and WEEX at the request of financial regulators, prohibiting these platforms from providing or promoting unlicensed digital asset services within the financial center, as well as distributing related mobile applications.

The injunctions apply only to the AIFC and users within its jurisdiction, and do not constitute a nationwide trading ban across Kazakhstan. The AIFC has an independent legal framework and regulatory authority, requiring crypto companies to obtain the appropriate licenses before providing services within its jurisdiction.

Additionally, the court order also involves app store operators such as Apple and Google, but no separate injunctions have yet been issued against the two companies, with regulators required to consult with them first. LBank, which was previously included in the proceedings, was removed from the case on September 18 after blocking service access within Kazakhstan. AFSA stated that the relevant enforcement actions began in 2025, initially issuing warnings to more than 20 crypto platforms.
