Papertrade's new announcement triggers a valuation collapse; pre-market FDV high win-rate accounts buy more as prices fall.
According to PolyBeats monitoring, on October 20, perpetual contract trading platform Papertrade announced that there are currently no plans to allow PAPER token transfers outside the contract, and that it will adjust short-term trading fees and the token minting curve. On prediction market Polymarket, the probability of "Papertrade's FDV exceeding $25m on its first trading day" has dropped from 96% before the announcement to the current 48%.
Among the 8 different valuation range markets for this trading event, gatonekki is the top "Yes" holder in 6 of them, having invested a cumulative $30k with an unrealized loss of $10.8k.
gatonekki bought $10.2k of "Yes" in "Papertrade's FDV exceeding $50m on its first trading day." This account has a 94.7% win rate across 19 trades in pre-market and FDV-related markets, with PnL +$31.7k and ROI +88%. This investment is 5.3 times their average investment size.
On October 18, Ainvest reported that Paragon, a contract deployer on Hyperliquid, spent 570.98 HYPE (approximately $45k) to win the PAPER ticker in an auction and launched a 3x leveraged PAPER perpetual contract. Within two hours of launch, the contract peaked at $0.035, which at a total supply of approximately 8.55 billion tokens corresponds to an FDV of about $239M.
A Bankless article noted that under the new mechanism, for every $1M in future losses, only about 0.1% of the then-current supply of PAPER will be minted, meaning roughly only 10 PAPER per $1 of loss, compared to a maximum of 100 at launch; the team described the weighted minting as the pool approaches depletion as "the house discount-auctioning its own future cash flows."
