Iran's Foreign Minister: Willing to resolve issues through diplomatic channels, but will also defend its own security.
October 21: Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, writing in the UK Financial Times, stated that during meetings with multiple foreign ministers at the UN General Assembly last month, he conveyed a consistent message: Iran seeks a fair and honorable agreement with the United States. To achieve this goal, the White House must demonstrate sincerity and a genuine willingness to completely end aggressive behavior. He stated that Iran is firmly committed to seeking a peaceful resolution of the conflict in a dignified manner, but is also fully prepared for self-defense.
Araghchi pointed out that Trump launched this war based on a fundamentally erroneous assumption about Iran's strength, while Iran has no confidence whatsoever in the sincerity of the U.S. government's claims of peaceful coexistence with Iran. Given that the White House has neither shown a willingness to reach consensus nor threatened to resort to more violence, there is now little reason to expect progress. However, despite this, as a diplomat, Araghchi stated that he still has an obligation to do his utmost to try diplomatic means, even if the chances of success are slim.
